Sasa Scheiner
Sasa’s ceramic art is inspired by the forces of Nature, particularly the ocean and rock formations. The beautiful primordial textures and surfaces in her work have arisen out of extensive technical research and play with many different aggregates and ash glazes. She uses light and dark iron clays to create a rich varied palette, and electric kiln firing gives her pieces an atmospheric effect. Her shapes and surfaces naturally evoke a tactile response. Sasa is especially inspired by the ocean and rock forms - the primordial textures and surfaces of her work emerge from research and play with a range of aggregates and ash glazes. She uses light and dark clays to create subtle variations in palette and tone. Nature’s raw beauty is a constant theme running through Sasa’s ceramic art. Her works are both sculptural and functional bringing art into life. Today her works are widely collected internationally and nationally, including in Australia’s Parliament House, Canberra and Brookvale TAFE (Sydney) Ceramic Department Collections.
