Rachel Carroll
Rachel Caroll's artistic process involves immersing herself in nature which is thriving or in need of preservation. Through paint, Caroll's aim is to uncover the abstract essence of the landscape. It is through an intuitive process she seeks the memories of the landscapes through the marks she finds when she returns to her studio and begin a canvas. The energy imbued within these abstract marks and forms elevates her understanding of a landscape, transcending mere narrative into a realm of deeper emotion. This emotional resonance remains central to Caroll's work. By delving into her country's essence and understanding her ancestors' connection to it, Caroll believes they can better navigate the path toward conservation. In July last year, Caroll embarked on a personal journey to Uluru and the Larapinta; Arrernte Country, accompanied by her sister Jemima. This expedition marked yet another visual evolution, as she transitioned into semi-abstract landscapes.
