"My memories are feelings, not images. They are the canvases when the images appear. A beginning is chosen, a line, a shape, a colour. I paint with oil paints. Initial forms are put in then usually removed with a hint of their past. Oil paint is flexible, has its own life and the brushes and rags have their own needs. I often seem their intermediary. A painting calls, reflects, urges a colour, a tone, a space. I sit with it. Remove that space, add another, change the composition. Line has an energy, colour vibrates. Sit. Watch. The day has gone."
