Judith Ringger
An unorthodox printmaker and a storyteller with a purpose, cRingger’s works are compelling narratives of light and shadow. Judith Ringger reimagines printmaking techniques, shaping them to suit her own creative energies to tell the stories of our wildlife in fantastical ways. Her works are palpably atmospheric containing a subtle message of man’s illustriously thoughtless behaviour. She seeks to scratch the conscience of man in order to live intelligently and harmoniously with our environment. Feeling strongly about the sensitive and responsible management of our land, water and forests, Judith uses her medium to highlight the importance of respecting our wildlife. With her unconventional printmaking techniques, Judith moulds, shapes and layers a variety of fine art paper and ink into evocative landscapes; palpably moody works that make us look again at what we had, what we have and what we should protect. This is an artist who is tells a story of both love and regret, a hauntingly beautiful narrative.
