Lucila Zentner

Lucila Zentner

,

Lucila Zentner is an Argentinian born Australian artist who has this year moved her studio from a vineyard in regional NSW/Victorian border to Northern Sydney. Lucila is also a practising medical practitioner and uses her ‘eyes’ in Radiologic interpretation on the one hand and in expressive painting on the other. Lucila paints in oils with a thick painterly technique spreading oil paint like butter over linen and canvas. She paints still lives, landscapes and portraiture; trying to capture moments, lights, forms, gestures, colour and shadows. Lucila has a history of interpreting landscapes people and still lives relevant to and for her subject; her most recent solo exhibition based on images submitted by constituents from her regional town. When asked why she paints, Lucila says - “In the way one talks to a friend and takes pleasure in reliving a story; I paint to prolong a moment. Time is a thief, and painting is my defense. In the way one listens to sad music to cry; I paint in protestation. In the way one talks to a friend to make sense of something; I paint to understand a subject. In the way one enjoys life and beauty simply, and without reference to anyone else; I paint for the sheer love.”
